On July 1st, what player do you think was paid more than he was worth?
Tell me what you think. Post a Comment.
(Personally, I think Briere was highly overpaid, but I don't want to influence your choice.)

I think all July 1st signings saw GMs overpay their new commodities. Briere for 10 million a season... you didn't even win the Cup last year! Smytty at 6 million... I too could probably bounce pucks off my ass if I had the courage to stand in front of the net like he does. Drury and Gomez for over 7 million a piece... Rangers, you already tried to buy yourself a Cup a few seasons back and you didn't even make the playoffs. Happy early golfing in 2008! Don't get me wrong, all these guys are very good hockey players, but what happened to earning your salary (not just going by your name and free agency status)? I hate to say this, but the only smart move was made by the Leafs who signed Jason Blake at a reasonable 4 million a season. I'm with you Rach, what is happening to the NHL?!?
